The BU Blogs service will be down on Wednesday, February 11, from 7 - 8 a.m. for server maintenance. During this period, your blogs will unavailable and you will not be able to login to your blogs administration system to make any updates. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes you or your users.

While not yet ready for an official launch, anyone can begin using BU Blogs now. This new service is open to all students, student organizations, faculty, researchers, staff, and departments for both business and personal use. We invite you to create a blog (see below) and begin using and testing this service.

BU Blogs is at its launch address (blogs.bu.edu) and it's using its production database. So, anything you put in your blog will remain there after the official launch, unless you delete it yourself.

We have some remaining work ahead of us, including:

1. Complete the design, which is by New Media.
2. Set up back ups on the system.
3. Produce training materials.

We expect to complete this work and launch this service by the end of August, 2008. If you have any questions, send them to WebCentral Help Staff.

BU Blogs is open to all students, student organizations, faculty, researchers, staff, and departments for both business and personal use. It's easy to create a new blog. Just follow the instructions below.

Individuals. To create a blog under your login name, just login. A blog will be created automatically and immediately under your login name. The direct address to your blog will be:

blogs.bu.edu/your-login-name

Departments. You have two options.

1. If your department has a BU login name associated with it, just login with that name. A blog will be created automatically and immediately under that login name. For example, the Dean of Students has a departmental account, dos. After logging in with that name, a blog would be created at blogs.bu.edu/dos. The direct address to your departmental blog will be:

blogs.bu.edu/departmental-login-name

2. If you want to create a departmental blog under another name, say one to match your website URL on www.bu.edu (e.g., www.bu.edu/admissions), you can. But, we must process these requests manually, so it will take 1 - 2 business days to complete. Just complete this form to request a blog under another name.
